Planning for this day and entire week, I managed to work a few extra hours during the week so that today I only will work as few hours as possible.
Today:
- Woke up 2hrs later than regularly (7:20am)
- Drove to work instead of biked
- Plan to leave work after lunch time
- Plan to play video games
The last couple of days I’ve kept up with 30 minute runs. I’ve changed up the course a bit each day. Running a new course has helped me wake up in the morning. Getting out of bed is less difficult when I think about a new way path to run. Also, putting the alarm clock on the other side of the room helps :p
This weekend I’ll have my first longer run!

Running isn’t hard when it’s done in a routine. It’s only when midterm papers are due, sleep schedules are being shortened and late night Olympic extravaganzas occur that my training program gets affected.
For the past 5 days I’ve been good at waking up before work and running.
I’m doing around 30 minute runs at a faster pace on the weekdays followed by a 10 minute bike ride to work. On the weekends I run around 1 hour at a slower pace.
Next week, I plan to run 45 minutes on the weekdays and an hour and a half on the weekends. In two weeks, 1 hr weekday runs and 2hr weekend runs.
Let’s see how this turns out!

Since June 29th, these are just a few reasons I’ve been gone.
- Celebrated Independence Day weekend in Chicago
- Proposed to my now-fiance
- Moved to Groton, Connecticut
- Went apartment hunting for a week while staying at the Mystic Hilton
- Moved into the La Triumphe Apartments
- Went on an 12 day Princess Alaskan Cruise
- Started work at Progeny Systems
- Impulsively purchased furniture and extra crap for the apartment
- Received Comcast internet working after a few weeks of waiting
- Watched the Olympics during every free moment
- Started biking to work
I’ll follow up on each of these things in a little more detail later, but in the meantime, let some of the pictures do the talking

OK, I’m back in the groove of things
If you’re curious why I’ve been gone, read up on this post.

But… as I promised a month back. Here were my 5k results.

Finish Time
(BTW I’m the dork in the yellow shorts with a full cotton shirt and a full backpack)
(PPS: Let me know if I should purchase this photo, seeing that obviously I didn’t buy it yet)
